    • Year:1996
    • Make:Ford
    • Model:Bronco

    Engine : 5.8 L - Refreshed

    Drivetrain : no info

    Transmission : MANUAL - ZF-5 / 42

    VIN : 1FMEU15H0TLB53538

This 5th generation, full size 1996 Bronco XLT Sport 4x4 was built in the last year of production for this iconic vehicle. 2016 celebrated the 50th anniversary since the start of production on the first generation of Bronco’s. I always loved this model, loved the big engine, but wanted a manual transmission. I found this rust-free gem and decided to make it into exactly what I wanted.

This vehicle is RARE in that it has the 5.8 liter engine mated to a manual transmission! The rest of the upgrades / modifications are listed below:

Transmission / Unique Automotive: For those that still love a manual transmission.
•Replaced the stock transmission from the Automatic E40D to a Manual ZF-5 /42. Both mate up exactly to the 5.8 L Windsor Engine.

Suspension / Essentially Off Road: A new stance, with durable, new joints throughout.
•Hydro 8000 Rough Country Quad Shocks and Springs up front, I-beam drop brackets
•2.5” lift replacement Rear Leaf Springs
    •Rough Country Steering Stabilizer
    •New Axle Pivot Bushings
    •New Dana Arm Bushings
•Upgraded Front and Rear Drive Shafts - Precision fabrication to accommodate manual transmission
•New Heavy Duty Left Inner and Outer Tie Rods, New Heavy Duty Right Inner and Outer Tie Rod

Go / Delk Performance: Low gearing for the trail, with an engine built to get you there.
•Engine basically torn down and rebuilt, New Cam: Comp Cams #35-422-8
•Delk Performance Eliminator Single Multi-Program Switch Chip
•Custom Tuning / Flash for Manual
    •Dyno Shows
-Max Torque at 303.2 at 2622 RPM / 44.9 MPH
-Max Horse Power at 202.8 at 4192 RPM / 71.7 MPH

Stop / Unique Automotive: Time to upgrade.
•New Brake system, Rotors, Calipers, Brake lines

Exhaust System / Unique Automotive: The Bronco has a nice "throaty" rumble.
•Bassani Headers / Ceramic coated / Stage 8 Locking Header Bolts
•Bassani “Y” Pipe - improving the primary restriction point
    •Bassani High Flow Cats
•Added O2 Sensors to match stock configuration (No codes)
•Muffler and exit piping (3”) out the stock location, with Chrome tip.
•This vehicle has passed standard pollution testing in Tennessee.

Cooling System / Unique Automotive, Bronco Graveyard: The 5.8L stays cool in the hottest weather.
    •Robert Shaw 180 Degree Thermostat
    •New Serpentine Belt
•High Performance FlowKooler Aluminum Water Pump
•Champion Cooling, 4 Row All Aluminum Radiator
    •New Hoses
    •New K&N Drop-in Air filter

•New Plugs, MSD Distributor Cap/Rotor Kit, 9mm Ignition Wire Set, MSD Street Fire Coil
    •MSD Ignition System
    •Under Carpet Sound Deadening mat
    •Under Carriage Rust Prohibitive Under-coating
•Warn Manual Hub Conversion Kit - I just liked these instead of dealing with the notoriously bad solenoid issues on the stock push button version.
    •High Intensity LED Fog Lights
•Hefty Fabworks - Rock Sliders - The "real" deal.
•Upgraded Kenwood Stereo – CD Player. Aux input, Blue Tooth, Hands free. Not a high end unit, but gets the job done.
•Fresh Charge on Air Conditioning system.

    Wheels: Method Heavy Duty Aluminum Alloy MR101 - 17” x 8.5” / 5 x 5.5”, 4.5” Back Space - 27.5 lbs.

Tires: New BFG BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO – LT275/70 R17 121R E / RWL (Less than 1,500 miles).

I wanted a vehicle that I could get on the highway and reliably cruise across country. The vehicle is very dependable and in fantastic shape. That being said, it is 20 years old, and I have done little besides touch-up paint to correct minor cosmetic or natural wear issues on the vehicle.

Residuals from the switch to the manual tranny include a cruise control that does not function, and an oil pressure gauge that flutters occasionally. The ash tray sliding mechanism does not work; I leave it in the closed position (this would be a good location for a C.B. Radio). Everything else in the vehicle is in excellent working order. The vehicle is not perfect, but it does have a great start. I would put it at around 85 - 90%.

    Purchase Information

I am trying to consolidate my vehicles. I have a new company vehicle, and do not have time to enjoy this great Bronco.
