302 2 bbl |
| Drivetrain: |
All stock: 3 speed column shift. 3.50 gears. Trac-loc rear. Dana 30 front. Drum brakes. Dana 20 T-shift transfer case. Has stock dual fuel tanks. |
| Description: |
All stock down to the original “Mustang-style” hubcaps. Excellent candidate for restoration. Needs rust repair in the usual places; floor pans, door jambs, lower tailgate, etc. But, “Henry” always turns heads and receives positive comments.
Engine runs very strong; was rebuilt in 1998 by Valley Engine Builders (they normally only would build custom and race engines but Bill agreed to take the job because he liked the truck) of Glenwood Springs Co to stock specs using OEM Ford parts in every way possible. When I picked it up, he said "that's a torquey little small block!" The only non-stock item was to add hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel.
Motor now has about 50k miles on it and pulls loads of vacuum. Since the rebuild the truck has spent it's life at high elevation, over 6000'; this means it has run at reduced compression levels it's whole life!
I don't know exact miles on the vehicle because of a broken speedo cable (that's still broken) but I estimate +/-125k; it had 72k when I bought it in 1996.
I have never cut anything or changed the basic stock configuration of the vehicle (I’m the third owner) and it has always driven great off-road or cruising on the interstate. The only real mods are a fuel pressure regulator, poly C-bushings, and some fog lights.
I am selling because of divorce and I don't have enclosed storage and workshop space to keep “Henry” going. Needs rust repair but only perhaps some brake work to make a good driver. Any original parts that are not on the truck (radio, horn ring, stock rear seat, etc.) I have in storage.
The asking price is based on the vehicles’ complete stock configuration and the combined parts value of items such as the engine, hardtop, rear seat, hood, etc. Of course I would much rather see someone do a lovely stock restoration than to strip it for parts, but that’s up to the buyer.
